Winter is a Comin...
Well, the clocks went back and suddenly it's pitch black when I get out of work. I'm not talking a little mellow sunset; I'm talking walking-into-poles black. We even had our first, teensy-weensy snow shower on Friday night... not enough to even reach the ground, but it was exciting none-the-less.
We've been keeping our heads down a bit recently; I've got a new job at a software company which is a lot of fun - fairly intense and challenging, but definitely enjoyable. The best thing is that they are only fifteen minutes from home. So far I've worked in the extreme west, east and south of Ottawa (we live in the centre), so its a real relief not to have a long commute. They also have a pretty damn cool office; its a converted cinema. They've kept one of the screens to do teleconferencing (and to play movies on Friday nights), they've kept the large concession stand as one of the kitchens (from which they serve free soft-drinks, coffee and beer), there's free pool and foosball tables; it's pretty much one of those trendy IT companies.
Elli is kicking her pet project into gear at work, and is pretty excited about all the funding she's worked so hard to get. We're thinking of staying on for another little while so that she can get the project up and running... we'll let you know when (and if) the paperwork comes through.
We got into an invite-only Ultimate league which should be... interesting. The whole concept is kind of against the spirit of Ultimate, which is supposed to very inclusive, and that made us a little angry. But... it should be a pretty intense level of competition at about our skill-level, and it's on a really good astro-turf indoor field, so we'll see. Our fall team did pretty well, ending up third out of about thirty or so. (We can't claim any hand in that... we were their cross to bear :) Everyone else on the team was very, very good.)
Happy Birthday to my bro... hope your present arrives in time. And mum... did your present arrive yet?? It's been over two months... Happy Birthday to Alyssa as well... keep it real, G.
Peace out y'all - complicated hand gesture
