The Disaster in the East
So we arrived back in Ottawa with Ley and threw together a flea-ridden pallet and a chamber pot for him before crashing out for the night. Then; back to work the next morning!
We had Ley to entertain us during the week so it was a better week than most, despite our exhaustion starting to creep up on us. We recruited him to play on our Ultimate teams on Monday and Wednesday; on Tuesday he organised a lurverly picnic dinner for us which we ate down by the lake.
Ottawa is a bit like Canberra in that it's a pretty damn boring place to be a tourist; and to be honest we weren't the best host's as we didn't really have the time to show him the small nuggets of fun we'd found around Ottawa. Well, at least I think he had a bit of a relax after a month or two of hard-core partying. Except for when we left him alone in the house on Thursday and he threw a 48 hour naked Twister orgy.
I guess there are worse places to get lost... Scot's Cove, Nova Scotia
We missed the all the fun because on Thursday we flew to Halifax, Nova Scotia. What should have been a fun long weekend was unfortunately a bit of a disaster... Elli started to get quite ill on the flight over, and was laid up in bed for the first couple of days - after which I caught whatever she had. The weather wasn't very good and we managed to get extraordinarily lost whenever we went hiking or driving.
Peggy's Cove is supposed to be one of the prettiest places in Nova Scotia... we couldn't tell you.
Mahone Bay
That's not to say there wasn't some bright spots. It was great to see the sea (heh) again... we walked along some of the coastline of Bay of Fundy, which has the largest tidal deviation in the worlds (something like 60 feet!).
The firing squad at the Halifax Citadel.
We also stayed in a pretty ritzy hotel in Halifax which was kind of fun in a naughty way. All in all it was a pretty disastrous trip, but we gave up on the 'exploring' part of the holiday and focused on the 'relaxing' part, so it wasn't as bad as all that.
