R.I.P. Canal

Well, we're nearing the beginning of Spring here. The city closed the Rideau Canal for skating today... it was very sad. We've been skating a fair bit lately, as we knew this was coming, but that didn't stop some (well, one) (very manly) tears from flowing.

The Canal brought people together... in a BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY!

The weather wasn't always this nice...

It's looking like it might be the end of the skiing season soon as well. I managed to get in two sessions this weekend, both of which neatly fit into to a 48-hour gap in my health insurance. Nothing like good planning! We're thinking of doing a weekend at Mont Tremblant, a big ski hill in Quebec, as a celebration for getting our work visas. We'll let you know how that eventuates.

It's hard to tell if the snow will last though... March weather here is traditionally crazy. Looking at the forecast for this week, we've got rain, sun, snow, sleet, and temperatures from +12 to -17. Kinda hard to make any outdoorsy plans.

Anyway, other than that life continues as normal. I've just come through a fairly hectic spell at work, and have been taking it easy the last couple of days. I'm back to working one job though, so things should be a little more sane. I'll tell you all about my new job sometime.

Yay! How long are your Visas for?

We lost nearly all our snow in the space of a few days. It got warm (so then some melted and froze and everyone slipped over a lot) and then it rained a bit and now there is only a tiny patch here and there.
Sad, but nice to be able to stride to work and not feel like my lungs will crack.

Visas are til next February, but they can extended easily if need be (unlike our old ones).

Pretty much exactly the same thing happened here re: thaw, rain, freeze, fall over.

I can you imagine you 'striding' to work =)
