5 weeks, 5 paragraphs, 5 pics

Yep, it's been five weeks since the last update... oops. Usual excuse: really busy. Apology: insincere. To make up for it, here's a quick round up of what we've been doing over the past five weeks.

I've been working like crazy at my new job. It's great fun, but the hours are all over the place... I'll work 80 hours in five days, then have a week off. If you're interested in what I'm doing, check out http://www.flvdo.com/. I'm the companies only programmer (we only have four or five staff at the moment), so I have a lot of creative input - which I'm really enjoying after being in a cubicle farm at my last job. The hours are pretty flexible most of the time, the people I work with are great and very very smart, and on the whole I love it!

Elli's still with Pollution Probe, still working on her pet GIS website, but also getting increasingly involved with corporate social responsibility stuff, water stuff, reviewing legislation, and running around like crazy which she seems to enjoy. Day to day, we're doing French lessons, playing Ultimate and Badminton, swimming, Elli's taken up singing and music lessons, while I'm taking a kayaking course (which is actually kinda lame, but I've paid for it already so oh well).

We're in the midst of planning a trip out west, to see the Rockies, the prairies, Vancouver etcetera, with Elli's parents who are coming over in June. Should be great!

We're finally getting some sunshine which has not come a moment too soon. Mid-winter I think we handled ok; we skied and skated enough so that it felt like we weren't trapped by the weather. In March and April however, there was enough rain and warm spells to melt all the snow and skateable-ice, but it was still bitterly cold, and we were thoroughly sick of winter by about mid-March. Usually its sunny by Easter, but this year there was still snow on the ground while we were painting our Psanky eggs at Peter and Jennies. We've started up a little veggie patch to celebrate the spring... we had a little working bee with four or five friends who were so excited by the first weekend of sun that they submitted to our slave labor. We'll show you some pics later (unless its a miserable failure). I promised you five paragraphs and you're not getting a single one more! On with the (five) pics:

Ultimate finals/Tai Chi Chuan... my team didn't win =(

We fostered a sick cat for a couple of weeks... like most cats, she was certifiable

A Ghanian drum and dance troupe, fun for the whole family

Up in Quebec there was still heaps of snow; we spent a day tobogganing with Elli's boss and his wife at their cottage near Lac Curran

Elli found me a pub where they were playing all the ICC World Cup games! I was pretty disappointed with the finals, on the whole I think it was not a very well run tournament... still, great to see the Aussies still in amazing form, and Sri Lanka particularly were playing very good cricket.

I still maintain that you only manage to fit so much in because you don't sleep! Damn you!

Sounds like it's been fun anyway. We will also update our blog... eventually. :P
