A Post for February
Winterlude and ice sculptures!
More snow. Pretty good skiing for once at our local hill - we have season night passes, and by the time we get there most nights all that is left is a layer of scraped ice. The past couple of weeks, however, have been pretty sweet.
We even ventured out on snowboards a couple of weekends ago, taking a half-day lesson with our friend Leah (our friend Ed, however, is a big fat piker). It was surprisingly fun - a lot of falling over, but very physical; more so than skiing, anyway.
We also got taken 'tubing' by Leah (and her friends Amanda, Luc and Martin). Tubing is lieing down in a rubber tube and falling down a hill. It was fun, but only because we were drunk. No, seriously, it was fun, but after about two hours it got a little bit old, made worse by the fact that we had to fight off two hundred small children every time we wanted to get a tube. It was a once in a lifetime* experience.

Myself, Elli and Leah (pretend to be) going really fast
We've also been skating on the canal a bit, cross-country skiing a bit... on the last long weekend we hired a rustic little cabin in the woods by a frozen lake, and spent the weekend skiing, snow-shoeing and laying around by the fire reading and drinking coffee. Very relaxing.

Leah skiing on the lake near our cabin.

Yes, we even attempted to play ultimate in the snow. With snow-shoes. Pictured are Julie and Damian.
Elli continues to be crazily-busy with her project, but she's coming along pretty well. Myself, I'm in a bit of an interstitial - I'm kept on my current contract mostly for warranty support, so I have nothing to do except sit around and earn money. I actually spend a fair chunk of my time working for my little startup, which is a bit naughty. I'm guessing this wont continue for long.
One night we went for dinner at our friend Arashs' place - here are Elli and Sean Connery, aka Vahid.
*As in, once in a lifetime is enough.

If you've got so much spare time, how come you can't email your mother more often?

Jealous! But not too much because we have been going swimming after work in the pool attached to our complex. :)
