Inverness, Largs, Ben A'an
After two nights in Portree we headed back with Elli's Gran, Catriona, to her place in Inverness, where Elli and I stayed the night. Then, back to Glasgow again! We barely had time to do some laundry before heading to Largs the next day to see Elli's other Gran, Joan. Phew!
After a cosy night there, and a traditional(?) Scottish fish supper (the Black Pudding was kind of horrible, but Elli enjoyed the fish) we caught the train back to Glasgow. Due to the typical Scottish weather, a 45-minute train journey ended up taking two-and-a-half hours, as the tracks were flooded. Doh!
We took a day to hike up Ben A'an, not having done any exercies the entire trip. It's one of Elli's favourite hikes within striking distance of Glasgow. It's only a 2 - 3 hour hike, but it is very steep and once you get to the top you are afforded some really great views (even in the perpetual Scottish overcastness).
Elli and Hamish at the peak
We dragged along Jane and their wee West Highland Terrier Hamish, who was intent on running down sheer expanses of rock and throwing himself off cliffs.
